SPIDERLINGS
Ones a female tarantula created an eggsac containing hundreds of tiny eggs, she will guard the sac until they hatch that may take 48 to 50 days and may depend on the type of tarantula. Do not stress the female tarantula because on the tendencies that she might destroy the eggsac or eat her eggs. Provide dead crickets or roaches to avoid roaming around the enclosure. The tiny tarantulas are called spiderlings and they still look like the eggs they came from with tiny legs. Most keepers take out the spiderlings on first instar and separate them individually on deli caps. You can buy this deli caps on groceries in different sizes or you can check your local pet stores for spiderling vials. Some hobbies separate the eggsac after 20 days in a container so that it is much easier to separate the spiderlings ones they hatch.
Feed the spiderlings with pin head crickets 2 to 4 times a week. The prey items you feed your tarantula should be quite a bit smaller than the tarantula. As you spider moults and grows so the size of the prey it can eat will increase.
Water is very important to spiderlings because this will allow them molt easily so misting is very vital. Molting refers to the periodic shedding of a tarantula's exoskeleton. Mist the deli caps 2 times a week to help keep the humidity up. Spiderlings will molt faster than adults. On my experience, they molt ones a month.
SCORPLINGS
Once they start coming off her back, seperate them into individual tubs. Feed them with pinhead crickets ones a week. Don’t over feed them because they will become fat and may have difficulty in molting. Misting scorplings ones a week will provide good humidity especially during molting.
Spiders and Scorpions have much things in common.
ReplyDeleteScorpions are move gentle and loving towards their scorplings as opposed to spiders.
